Rumor: Ubisoft to Skip Assassin’s Creed 2016 to Revamp the Series

According to a recent rumor; Ubisoft might not release an Assassin’s Creed game in 2016.

According to a recent rumor; Ubisoft might not release an Assassin’s Creed game in 2016 and release the next big installment next year in 2017.

As surprising as it sounds, according to Autoomobile; a Ubisoft developer made a post on 4chan saying that there will not be an Assassin’s Creed in 2016 as developers need more time to entirely revamp the franchise. The post further reads that the next installment will be set in Egypt and will have more of a ‘Witcher feel’ to it:

Egypt. There won’t be an AC in 2016. You may screencap this and refer to it when nothing is shown in E3 2016. You’ll have to wait until 2017 for it. The reason: It will be a complete revamp of the series. The game is going for a Witcher feel, with player progression, freeform combat system. Horse is back, and boats too. It s made by the Black Flag team. You may leave any question you want answered.

I would personally like the studio to take a break from the series and invest that time into creating something like a new Prince of Persia, but unless we hear anything official from Ubisoft, take this with a grain of salt.

2015’s Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate explores the Victorian London and is now available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
