Fallout 4 was a great and engaging game, it kept players busy for a while but it looks like the title proved to be too addictive for one Siberian gamer.
The 28-year old male from Krasnoyarsk claims that he lost his job and got divorced due to his Fallout 4 addiction. He found out about the game from an advert and later downloaded the title on his PC. Sadly for him, he got so addicted to the title that he stopped paying attention to his family, skipped work, which resulted in a downward spiral for both of these aspect of his life.
He feels that Bethesda is to blame for this so he is asking for a compensation of 500,000 roubles (US$7,000). We all love to spend hours playing games but in this case, it looks like the man is pinning his mental or psychological issues on Bethesda; of course, when things go wrong many of us feel that it is best to put the blame on the easiest target, which in this case is Bethesda.
The law may not pay much attention to this case, but it gets to show just how easy it is to blame this medium for your own mistakes.
If I knew that this game could have become so addictive, I would have become a lot more wary of it. I would not have bought it, or I would have left it until I was on holiday or until the New Year holidays.
A similar case was reported in U.S back in 2010, when a man sued Lineage II developer for his crippling addiction to the game. Strangely, he won his case.
We have to wait and see how things go in Russia, stay-tuned for more updates on this developing story.
