Sony Computer Entertainment and Hideo Kojima recently announced a partnership. With so many speculations and rumors going on, we thought it was a good idea to share everything that you need to know about the new partnership.
The first thing that you need to know is that the contract was signed on Dec. 16, 2015 and Kojima Productions is an independent studio and does not come under Sony Worldwide Studios.
Kojima’s untitled game is not related to cancelled Silent Hill or Metal Gear franchises and is something completely new. The title is a timed-PS4-exclusive and will eventually release on PC with SCE being the publisher — no other platforms are confirmed as of now.
The PS4-exclusivity is only related to the first title; beyond that, no additional information is available. It is not confirmed whether the first untitled title will be a virtual reality title, but it is being developed by Kojima Productions with Sony providing the necessary support.
The studio’s headquarters are located in Japan, but the details regarding the staff and address are not disclosed as of yet. As for the reason behind PS4-exclusivity:
Kojima is an extremely creative and passionate game designer who has made countless contributions to PlayStation and the gaming industry. By having Kojima develop his first independent title to PS4, we believe that we can deliver completely new gaming experiences made possibly only by Kojima, to gaming fans worldwide. We are not disclosing further details on how this agreement was realized.
