Various UK-based video games retailers — big and small — spoke with MCV-UK about how they presume 2015 went as well as their expectations for 2016.
Speaking of the platform that will rule 2016, 70% of UK-based retailer voted PS4, 27% voted Xbox One, 2% voted PC, and only 1% voted the upcoming Nintendo NX. With virtual reality just around the corner, 55% retailer who participated in the survey said that VR will fail, 39% predicted that it will be a hit, and 5% were unsure.
Coming to retailers’ most anticipated games to release in 2016, PS4 exclusive Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End took the crown with 41%, Tom Clancy’s The Division lagged behind with 11%, and Dark Souls III came in at 6% with the next Call of Duty game and Mass Effect: Andromeda coming in at 1%.
Finally, coming to 2015, when asked what was retailers’ game of the year in terms of success, a massive 62% voted Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic role-playing game Fallout 4 followed by CDPR’s The Witcher III: Wild Hunt at 10%, and EA Sports’ FIFA 16 at 9%.
When asked which publisher supported these retailers — who participated in the survey — 31% voted Microsoft, 26% voted Bethesda Softworks, and only 12% voted Sony Computer Entertainment.
Since this is a massive survey with a lot of things that has been covered, I suggest heading to the source and finding out everything for yourself!
