Now that Fallout 4 is out in the world we’re all interested in what Bethesda will do next. They may have a break, but there are already hints that their next project will be something big.
As part of their move to the future, Bethesda today announced the opening of their Montreal Office in Quebec. This will allow them to expand their development capabilities on console, PC, and mobile gaming.
“We’ve worked with some very talented developers in Montreal for a long time, and decided it was time to open a studio there,” said Todd Howard, Game Director and Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios. “It’s exciting to think about the new games we’ll be building together.”
Bethesda have also revealed that they have a team of 40 developers to work in the offices, who will concentrate on console and mobile development. This studio will be managed by industry veteran Yves Lachance who will be the Studio Director.
“Our collaboration with Bethesda Game Studios has been an exhilarating and memorable journey already,” said Lachance. “We are thrilled to be launching the studio in Montreal and contributing our city’s great game-making talent to the kind of games that Bethesda Game Studios is known for.”
Along with the announcement, Bethesda also revealed that they are currently hiring for positions in both their Maryland and Montreal offices. These can be viewed here.
What we can be sure of with this announcement is that Bethesda are looking to the future and the big projects that they’ve promised. Could this be an Elder Scrolls game, or maybe the next Fallout? I’m sure Bethesda will tell us when they are ready to reveal all.
