Recently, we came to you with a report of something called “Free-to-Play PES 16.” An Australian ratings board rated it and at the time some considered it as a smartphone title. However, as it turns out, the game is actually a console title.
It is the very first time Konami is using a free-to-play model with its AAA game on consoles, in hopes that people will spend real life cash in the game. Konami is trying to better monetize its games in a tough AAA market, which is completely understandable.
Pro Evolution 16 Free-to-Play will feature 7 teams, Exhibition Mode, training section, and unlimited access to PES MyClub. Konami hopes to generate revenue via the MyClub mode of the game.
Meanwhile, the full game will sold available for purchase across all platforms. As for the free-to-play version, it will release later this month.
There is no word regarding when and if it will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. We’ll let you know as soon as anything is shared related to the topic.
