Players of Halo 5: Guardians are having issues with the fact that Arena only offers ranked matches. Luckily for them, it looks like this may be changing in a future update to the game.
Taking to the Team Beyond Forums to update fans on the progress of development on the game, Josh Holmes the studio head of 343 Industries revealed that there will be some changes to come:
“There was no insidious motivation behind going all ranked for Arena. That was the design intent of the team working on that experience. That said, we’ve heard the requests and we are actively working towards supporting unranked playlists for Arena in a future update. It may seem straightforward on the surface but lighting up unranked play in Arena is not as simple as flipping a switch.
TLDR; We hear you, and are working on it.”
For gaming communities who put their faith in developers to listen to their issues with the games, it is always nice to get an update like that. Especially the fact that he does state that 343 are listening to them and actively making changes to the game to improve the experience.
It’s interesting that they said that the decision to make Arena ranked games was from past experience, I wonder if casual players of the game would agree that “experience”. This isn’t really an issue now though as Holmes appears to have put a few minds at rest with this update. Now just to wait and see when this change will come and if it is what the gamers want.
