With Street Fighter 5 coming in 2016, one of the issues around it is the release being an exclusive to PlayStation 4 and PC. Many players on the Xbox One feel left out by this, and the game’s producer had a message for them, though they may not like it.
In an interview with Gamespot Yoshinori Ono’s message to Xbox One Street Fighter fans was short, joking, and simple:
“[Laughs] There’s plenty of time to save $300 before the game comes out. The PlayStation 4 is at a very attractive price point at the moment. [Laughs]”
While Xbox One gamers may not see the humour in this statement, it was obviously a joke. It also shows though that Capcom are commited to the game staying exclusive to PlayStation 4.
A more interesting question was about the number of characters that will come to the game. His reply may hint that we’ll be getting more than just the ones teased already:
“I think we’re just going to watch how things progress. We don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves. We do have very ambitious plans for Street Fighter 5 and a very long term strategy. We’d like to continue as long as we can, but we’ll have to see how the product does.”
So if there are characters that you were hoping to make a return to the game, there is still a possibility that they could make an appearance. On the subject of microtransactions, even for “cosmetics” his reply appears to be that while cosmetic changes will come they will either use the in-game Fight Money or through DLC:
“For cosmetics, the game will have a mixture of paid and earnable content. There will be cosmetic DLC, some of it will be earnable with Fight Money, some will be earnable with just Zenny.”
So while Xbox One fans may be disappointed about Street Fighter 5, it looks like most fans will be happy with the developments of the game.
