The Witcher Movie Confirmed by Makers of The Mummy Series

We told you as long ago as August 2014 that The Witcher movie might actually get made; now, we are sharing with you the official confirmation that it is indeed coming! Kudos folks!

A Polish studio, Platige Films, has announced that they are going to work in collaboration with the Sean Daniel Company who will be producing the film. For those of you who do not know, Sean Daniel Company are the same guys who brought The Mummy to you.

That being said, The Witcher Movie is not going to have a tie-in with The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, neither is it going to follow the same line of story. Platige Films has revealed that it is going to be based directly on novels of Andrzej Sapkowski.

“Themes from the short stories ‘The Witcher’ and ‘Lesser Evil’ from ‘The Last Wish’ collection,” will be used to create the story of the film which will be directed by Oscar nominee Tomasz Bagiński.

The film will be an introduction to the Witcher’s world and is planned to be the beginning of a series. Thania St. John, an experienced Hollywood scriptwriter, author of such television productions as ‘Grimm’, ‘Chicago Fire’ and ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, is working on the script as well as on its film and television continuation.

The Witcher Movie is eyeing a 2017 release date.
