Blizzcon is here, and as expected one of the big reveals was the Warcraft trailer that has been teased all week. With an epic feel, and more of a touch of Lord of the Rings style could this be a game-to-movie translation that actually delivers?
For those who don’t know, here is the official blurb for the movie:
“The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces
extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.
So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.”
In addition to the trailer, new images were released giving additional teasers as to what we’ll see in the movie:
Directed by Duncan Jones who is know for Moon and Source Code, and starring Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Rob Kazinsky and Daniel Wu, Warcraft is due in cinemas June 10, 2016.
Based on Blizzard’s World of Warcraft the reaction at Blizzcon was very positive as expected, but can it deliver in terms of being an actual mainstream movie? To be a success it not only has to catch the attention of the gaming audience but also the movie going public. From what is shown in the trailer the signs so far are good especially for fans of fantasy movies, though as we know trailer don’t always deliver a good movie.
