If you registered for the Overwatch Closed Beta and didn’t get in, you obviously feel disappointed. With most of the invites seemingly going to high profile players and streamers many felt left out.
While this shouldn’t be too much of a problem, as there will be a chance to take part in the more open weekend betas, feel some sympathy for Mac users who have noticed something in the FAQs:
Q. Will Mac users be able to participate in the beta?
A. We’re developing Overwatch for Windows-based PCs only, so a Mac-specific beta will not be provided.
One site to show their frustration at this news was RestartGaming and they have a point. It seems like a strange decision for Overwatch not to be released on the Mac. Though in interesting news it does appear that it could be coming to consoles instead. A leak revealed on OverPwn shows that the meta description on the games page on Battle.net mentions consoles. Is this a mistake or will the game be heading to Xbox One and PlayStation 4?
As usual this is a rumour and pure speculation. It will be interesting to see what Blizzard reveal about their plans in the future, if enough Mac fans complain about not getting the game released on their platform, could Blizzard change their decision? We’ll have to wait and see.
Until then we will just have to wait for more news on the game, and watch the beta testers streaming their gameplay while the rest of us wish we had beta access. Having watched some of the gameplay, it does look a lot of fun and personally I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
