After years of development hell, Final Fantasy XV seems to be finally on the right track and all set to release next year, or maybe the year after that.
Recently, Square Enix released a new concept art for one of the game’s countless enemies that the players will encounter. Those who played the Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae demo will undoubtedly be familiar with these gigantic enemies known as Catoblepas.
Usually found in the game’s marshy area, these enormous creatures seem to prefer areas close to water as can be seen in the demo as they dredge through the marshes while their long necks sway high above the players.
According to the game’s art designer Chihiro Hashi, given how these creatures are so massive, it was quite a challenge to design them in such a way that they would feel real and believable.
Like something that could exist in the real world. To that end, the creative and design team focused most of their efforts on the face and leg sections of the beasts since those were the highlights of Catoblepas’.
Final Fantasy XV is in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and has a release date of 2016, which given the game’s history could change real soon.
