With the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 next month the more we hear about the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 release, the worse it gets. Today we learnt some new details that may put a few minds at ease.
In the new details revealed for Black Ops 3 on the previous generation consoles we now know:
What you’ll actually get when you purchase the game:
The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 features Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, but will not include a co-op or single-player campaign game mode. This PS3 and Xbox 360 version also includes a bonus digital full game download for the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, the game that started the series.
Will Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 get Shadows of Evil?
Yes, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will also feature Shadows of Evil, the all-new Zombies mode of play in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Shadows of Evil delivers an all-new Zombies storyline based on a 1940’s film-noir setting that takes the signature Black Ops Zombies gameplay to new heights.
Will the game run at 60 FPS?
The multiplayer mode on PS3 and Xbox 360 will scale between 30-60 FPS, while the frame rate in Zombies mode is 30 FPS.
The file size requirements for the game:
PS3 users will need 16 GB of storage space to download Call of Duty: Black Ops III update, which includes 8 GB for the initial download and 8 GB for installation. Upon installation, the game will require 8 GB of storage space on PS3. Xbox 360 users will need 8 GB of space for download and installation. In order to download the original Black Ops, PS3 users must have 40 GB of available storage space. The PS3 version of the original Black Ops requires 20 GB of space for download and 20 GB of space for installation. Once the game has been installed, the original Black Ops will only use 20 GB of space on PS3. Xbox 360 users will only need 7 GB of storage space to download the original Black Ops.
So perhaps the most interesting news is that the game will “scale” between 30 and 60 FPS, with Zombie mode restricted to 30 FPS. Obviously this will be more acceptable on the previous generation consoles.
