If you have preordered Halo 5: Guardians from the Xbox Store, it is a good chance you’ll encounter an installation bug. According to 343i, during installation some users may come face to face with a “stub file that is placeholder file, not the actual game.
343i says that those who preordered the game before September 21 and don’t have the instant power mode on, might face this bug. Thankfully, there is a solution.
- Go to My games & apps
- Sort your game collection by selecting Installed à Sort by size
- If your Halo 5: Guardians game size is greater than 40 GB, you’ve got the correct version, and you’re ready to download the necessary updates when they become available.
- If your Halo 5: Guardians game size is less than 40 GB, you’ve got an incorrect stub file, and will need to delete that version and reinstall the game.
Looks like 343i are being extra careful with Halo 5 and possible issues users may face. Halo 5: Guardians will release on October 27 for Xbox One.
