JRPG fans must be excited as Tales of Zestiria has just got unlocked on Steam. Since it’s an English port of the original Japanese version, some of us had our concerns related to any changes that might affect the overall experience of the game.
Luckily however, the game is looking solid and apart from some minor issues (which hopefully will be addressed with patches), it has already earned a lot of praise.
Anyway, if you are facing any issue related to Tales of Zestitira, we have the possible solutions and workarounds for the most common issues so far. Feel free to browse through the following listing.
#1 Tales of Zestiria Crashes to Desktop on Startup
There have been some reports about the game being crashed to desktop just after launch. The developer however, has taken notice of the situation and we will be getting an official update soon. In the meanwhile, you can try out the following workarounds:
Your crash can be related to surround sound so try changing that mode to stereo.
If your headset is using surround too, you will have to change it to stereo to avoid the crash.
#2 Tales of Zestiria Black Screen Fix
First thing you can try is pressing Alt+Tab and then getting back into the game. If that doesn’t work, navigate to C:\Users\_username_\AppData\Local\BANDAI NAMCO Games\Tales of Zestiria. Here if you don’t have a cfg, you need to create one with the name of “TOZ.cfg”.
You can download the content of cfg file from here and then paste it in your own config file.
#3 Tales of Zestiria Voice Overs not working
This also a sound related issue so if you set your sound mode from sound to stereo from the settings of unplug your headset, the issue should be resolved.
#4 Tales of Zestiria Bad Text, Distorted Text
If you are on Intel HD GPU, you should update your GPU drivers to resolve the issue. And if you have another GPU (AMD or Nvidia) apart from Intel HD, try running the game using that GPU.
#5 Tales of Zestiria Screen Tearing and Stutter Fix
The issue could very well be related to the refresh rate of your screen. Open your config file that can usually be found at C:\Users\_username_\AppData\Local\BANDAI NAMCO Games\Tales of Zestiria.
In TOZ.cfg, find the refresh rate option and change it to 60hz. Keep in mind that until the patch arrives, ratios other than 16:9 can also give you stretching issue along with stutter.
#6 Tales of Zestiria – Steam Broadcasting is Not Working
It’s working because it’s not available due to some licensing issues. However, you can use third party screen sharing tools to broadcast your content.
#7 Tales of Zestiria – PS4 Controller Issue
Although plenty of users have reported that their rb and rt buttons aren’t working, we don’t have a workaround for it yet. But since it’s a known issue, we hopefully will be getting an official fix with the patch.
#8 Tales of Zestiria, Controller Not Working
If you can’t use your controller to navigate through the options menu, worry not as the game has been designed that way by default. You will be able to use your controller once the game starts.
#9 Tales of Zestiria TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen was blocked on Startup
It’s a false positive and users of Avira will most probably face it so you need to filter the game and you should be good to go.
