After suggesting that Metal Gear can work without Hideo Kojima, removing his branding from the game’s official artwork and more, Konami is now suggesting that the veteran has not left them but is just on a vacation.
We, like all of you, are growing weary of the way Konami has been dealing with the alleged split but for some reason, a spokesperson speaking out of their headquarters in Tokyo completely denied news regarding Kojima’s departure.
He “is a listed as a company employee,” he said before adding:
Currently, Kojima and the development team are finished developing Metal Gear Solid V and are taking a long time off from work.
The spokesperson went to lengths to insist their point of view by adding that “because the development time for console games is so long and fatigues builds up, it’s common for employees to take extended periods of time of when development is finished.”
He was also inquired about the apparent farewell that was given to Hideo Kojima, to which his utterly hilarious reply was that “we’re not sure what kind of thing this was.”
Hideo Kojima is a prized game developer for the entire videogame industry and we would suggest Konami comes out clean about the issues instead of causing even more absurdity.
We will be contacting Konami and Kojima for comments about this.
