After a game-ruining bug was faced in a League of Legends World Championship match, the brawler Gragas has been banned from the tournament.
European Fnatic were in a match against Chinese Edward Gaming where the former picked up Gragas, about 20 minutes into the match, the champion was found unable to use of its abilities (maybe he had had too much booze before the match).
As a result, an investigation took place and when nothing could be clarified, the match was remade. However, Riot Games has now figured out that there are higher chances that the bug will recur which is why the champion has been banned from the tournament.
We don’t want to endanger the integrity of the upcoming games or risk additional remakes, so we are are disabling Gragas for the remainder of the tournament. The bug is also reproducible on [two other characters] Lux and Ziggs, and so to be safe, we are disabling them for the remainder of the tournament.
Rest of the League of Legends World Championship matches will have to be played without Gragas now.
Riot has also explained that there is a full week left in the semifinals which means teams have time to prepare another champion although looking at the popularity of Gragas we are not sure how many of the contestants will be okay with this.
