Halo 5: Guardians is coming, and so is the day one update. At 9GB this means people installing it from disc will have some time to wait before they can play the game.
When the game is released it will not only be updated with late minute patches but also will be receiving multiplayer and map content data. This means that the update will need to be done before the player can start the game. This of course will annoy people who may have internet issues around the time they start to play it.
The actual size of the patch was revealed by Josh Holmes, Studio Head for Halo 5:
@crazyherb9 The MP update (includes map content) is 9GB.

While this won’t take too long to download on a fast internet connection, for some users it could feel lengthy. That’s before we even get to the problem of monthly download restrictions. With some big titles coming in the next few months, day one patches are likely to cause headaches for quite a few people.
Even with this being the case, at least Halo 5: Guardians is finally heading towards release and fans will finally get to play one of Xbox One’s big exclusives. Will it live up to the player’s expectations and be a success for Microsoft? Well for that we’ll have to wait and see.
From the gameplay footage and limited streaming already shown signs are looking good. Now just for the reviews to hit, and for the actual release itself to be a success.
