Halo 5 is just over two weeks away from release, and it’s very easy to see the excitement amongst veteran fans of the franchise.
With the legendary Master Chief being pit against the mysterious Spartan Locke, we’re set for a story-driven first-person tactical experience.
Microsoft however doesn’t want to limit this fierce battle between two elite soldiers to just October 27 though. For this very reason, they’ve revealed a partnership with two NASCAR teams in the racing event. One of them will be representing Master Chief, while the other represents Locke.
The event details were revealed in a post on Xbox Wire. The race is scheduled on the Kansas Speedway on October 18, 2015.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will race at the event in a Master Chief themed car from Hendrick Motorsports, whilst Jamie McMurray will drive a Spartan Locke inspired vehicle backed by Chip Ganassi Racing.
A partnership with NASCAR may seem like an odd choice by Microsoft to market Halo 5, but it’s not the first time that a company has looked outside the gaming industry to promote its titles. The infamous and heavily criticized Mountain Dew-fest in Halo 4 is one such example, with ‘Do the Dew’ returning to promote Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare as well last year.
Halo 5 will hit shelves on October 27, exclusively for the Xbox One.
