The Price of Oculus Rift has been one of the more important questions that people have been asking the manufacturers, and for good reason too!
However, until now we have only been given hints and speculations even from the officials. While the reasons for the lack of clarity still remains to be seen, the founder of Oculus, Palmer Luckey has dropped yet another hint for the same.
We have been told that Oculus Rift would cost at least $300 some times back but after that the company was reportedly discussing something to the tunes of $350. Now, Luckey was asked if the $350 price could be legit; you are not going to like his reply:
I’m going to be perfectly honest with you. We’re roughly in that ballpark… but it’s going to cost more than that. And the reason for that is that we’ve added a lot of technology to this thing beyond what existed in the DK1 and DK2 days.
He also went on to explain further saying “it’s just the reality that when you make this thing you have to decide what tradeoffs you’re going to make;” and the tradeoff they have made is to keep quality at the cost of the price.
Luckey insists that they are making the most optimized product, with the best quality and the top notch technology which means the price could be a little on the up.
Are you okay with the expected price of the Oculus Rift?
