According to Crystal Dynamics’ Meagan Marie, nothing is set in stone as far as the inclusion of a multiplayer component in Rise of the Tomb Raider is concerned.
There is a long list of speculations stating the game will not incorporate a multiplayer component, but according to Crystal Dynamics, nothing is finalized as of this instant.
During an event that took place in Madrid, Crystal Dynamics’ Meagan Marie said that the studio will be able to say something about the multiplayer component in about a week – translated using an online translator:
We do not really have confirmed that there will be a multiplayer mode. We hope to be able to say something soon, in about a week. There is something which lets you compete with friends, but we have not exactly revealed what it is.
In parallel Rise of the Tomb Raider news; the game’s Season Pass just got leaked and mentions tons of extra singleplayer content as well as something which will let players compete with their friends. It seems like we will have to wait until next week to hear more from the developers.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is scheduled to release on Xbox 360 and Xbox One on Nov. 13, 2015. The PC, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4 versions will follow next year in 2016.
