PES 2016 may have been out for some time, but players of the game have been patiently waiting for the weekly roster updates to start. This should be functional now, though the first free Data Pack won’t be arriving until October 29.
The weekly updates will include updated rosters for the following modes:
- Online Divisions
- Friendly Match Lobby
- Team Play Lobby
- Online Competition
- Quick Match
This update for the rosters can be kicked off by pressing R3 (or equivalent) on the team selection screens. To see the full list of updates click here.
The first Data Pack that is scheduled to arrive October 29 updates rosters for all modes, and will also update the player faces. The first free Data Pack will include the following teams:
- Maccabi Tel Aviv
- Partizan Belgrade
With the delay in these updates arriving, fans have obviously been annoyed with the slowness from Konami. You just have to look at the PES subreddit to see fans venting their frustration about the updates to other users. Obviously when one of the highlights of the game is to have the rosters up to date, having to actually wait for the update when the football seasons are continually changing is not good.
While we can say this service should have been working when the game was released, obviously there doesn’t appear to have been much Konami could do. Hopefully now that the roster updates are working and the Data Packs will be arriving at the end of the month, this whole mess can be forgotten about.
We’ll have to keep an eye on the situation to see if this is finally working, and what the gamers think of it.
