With Augmented pre order program, developers gave players the option to choose what they receive as pre order incentives. Square Enix says that it felt choosing incentives themselves and releasing it across different regions caused frustration.
However, as it turns out, giving players the option to choose for themselves causes outrage. Square Enix wrote in a post:
After much thought and reflection, we decided to close down the program and make all of the incentive content available to anyone who pre orders Deus Ex Mankind Divided or purchases the day 1 edition of the game.
The post further reads:
Additionally, the release date will no longer be changed in accordance with pre order numbers, and everyone will gain access to the game on February 23, 2016.
These changes will automatically apply to those who have already preordered using the Augmented Preorder Program.
