While the publicity stunt for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 may have had questionable results one thing it hinted at was the coming of the story trailer. It should be no surprise then, that today the trailer has appeared and is very impressive.
While I do say impressive, I say so as a trailer. Years of Call of Duty games have shown that the campaign mode tends to be weak, while the multiplayer elements are still as popular as ever. Will they actually provide an impressive campaign mode this time? I can’t help but feel no, but I’d love to be surprised.
Moving away from what the campaign mode will deliver, the most important thing from this video is the story. With what appears to be a focus on mind control, soldiers going “off the grid” and of course the advanced weaponry that we’ll get to play with there is plenty to tease fans as to what to expect.
One thing that we can’t get away from though is the cost of life on show, whatever is going on in the game is leading to some dark images. What else do we expect from war? The official blurb for the game is:
“Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is a dark, gritty future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the cutting-edge military technology that define the future of combat”
What is added to that is the new element of soldiers minds being controlled and you as a character searching for your comrades who could be behind the destruction you can see. But just what is the truth?
Cold this Co-Op Campaign Mode actually deliver this time? We’ll have to see, but from experience I still remain doubtful.
