Could Commander Shepard Return in Mass Effect: Andromeda?

With Mass Effect: Andromeda not releasing until the end of 2016 we don’t know much about it other than the trailers and screenshots released. This doesn’t stop people from trying to tease some clues out of people working on it.

While people may ask Bioware’s Chris Wynn details about the game, the fact is he really can’t too many details until they are set to be officially revealed. One example of this was when one Twitter user asked whether the chosen class for their character would influence choices, interrupts, and scenes in the game:

The fact he says we’ll find out more about that later comes as no surprise. I think it is safe to assume that this choice will have some effects though, and the fact that Wynn doesn’t give a straight off “no” can be used to assume that too. Another question, which I’m sure he gets asked many times is if Commander Shepard will ever return:

While giving a very open ended answer, do we really need Shepard to return? Mass Effect: Andromeda is a whole new start. Shepard’s story was a successful trilogy, so why go back? I know many fans may want his/her return but it may be too much of a step back for a brand new generation of Mass Effect.

So what have we learnt about Andromeda so far? For one, people are very eager to find out more about the game, and we’ll be learning more in the future. My guess would be that we’ll learn lots more around E3 time at the earliest.
