Star Wars Battlefront is a multiplayer heavy title and features skill-based matchmaking. This led many to think that it might use peer-to-peer connection, but that isn’t the case. As revealed by developer EA DICE, Star Wars Battlefront will get dedicated servers.
This will play a role in reducing lag as well.
We’ll still have dedicated servers. Absolutely. It’s one of the hallmarks of making sure we deliver an unparalleled online servers for the game.
We may not be getting a server browser, but this puts “no dedicated server” rumors to rest.
Star Wars Battlefront is going into beta on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in the near future. The beta will be open to all, so there is no need to pre-order the game or wait for an invitation. According to EA:
The beta will consist of both our offline and online modes including co-op and split-screen co-op, and it will take place on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and via Origin for PC, so we have you covered regardless of your next generation platform of choice.
You can visit the official website for more information on the beta. The final release for Star Wars Battlefront is planned for November 17.
