Blizzard has added the ability to connect Battle.Net accounts to Twitch. For those who do so and watch certain Heroes of the Storm events they’ll also get a new Portrait as a free gift.
In a move to get players to watch Heroes of the Storm more on Twitter Blizzard have joined forces with Twitch and have also revealed which events to watch to claim your free gift. These will be the Americas Championship which runs over September 19 and 20.
This gift will be the special “Storm Watcher” portrait in Heroes of the Storm. Once qualified this will be provided to players in October. At that time players should be able to find it their in-game collection.
People who play, and already have plans to watch these championships will no doubt see no issue in connecting the accounts up, especially with the potential of more gifts in the future.
To connect your accounts, follow simply follow these steps:
- Log in to your Twitch account.
- Go to the settings menu by clicking on your account name on the top-right of the screen.
- Click on the Connections tab.
- Follow the instructions found there to select region and then connect to your Battle.net account.
On the announcement of the new promotion, a small Q&A is included. One of the questions is if other Blizzard games will have similar promotions for other games:
“The Heroes of the Storm “Storm Watcher” portrait is the only active promotion currently available. We’re considering rolling out similar promotions for our other games, but we don’t have any additional details to share at this time.”
With the connection to Battle.net made, it is obvious that similar promotions should be easy to do. We’ll have to wait to see if any of these come.
