If you were looking forward to some single player DLC for Grand Theft Auto 5, it looks like you are out of luck. For now, Grand Theft Auto Online is going to be the priority for Rockstar.
While talking to IGN about the game, Rockstar’s Design Director Imran Sarwar says:
“Right now our focus is on GTA Online which has exceeded our expectations. We currently have all key members of the team that launched Grand Theft Auto V focused on supporting GTA Online in every capacity.”
Which appears to confirm people’s fears, and that development of story based DLC is on the backburner. While some may say this means that any Story Mode DLC isn’t coming, I don’t actually see that said in the quote.
What Sarwar is in fact saying is that the focus is on GTA Online right now. This doesn’t mean that plans aren’t being made, or even some development is in process. All they are saying is that the companies focus right now is to bring content to the online version of the game. This is exactly what we’ve been seeing from them in terms of releases.
Players of Grand Theft Auto 5 have waited for some kind of story DLC for quite some time now, people have looked for it ever since it was first released on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. I’m sure that Rockstar may have some plans put together for the possibility of some added content, but these are put to the side because of the huge popularity of Grand Theft Auto Online.
It may come to a point where the company look towards Grand Theft Auto 6 instead of anymore story based content for the game, but I think there is still some hope in the future. It may not be the companies priority right now, but the chance is still there.
