Now we’ve had our fun with the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta, it’s time to look to Star Wars Battlefront. DICE have revealed when we’ll be able to try out their Star Wars game and which characters will be in it.
The good news is that it isn’t that far off, starting early October. As we are now in September this means that it is only a month away. This will be a technical test so that as we play, DICE can collect usage data and stress test the networks so that they can iron out any problems with the release.
Star Wars fans will also be happy to know that there will be two “Heroes and Villains” in the game, and yes they will be Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. The levels players are being given access to is the Walker Assault on Hoth as well as a Survival Mission on Tatooine.
Hoth will feature a 40-player multiplayer battle featuring Rebels and the Empire, and as we’ve seen from gameplay demos it looks to be plenty of fun and authentic to the Star Wars experience. The Survival Mission on Tattoine will feature you and a friend as Rebels taking on the Imperial forces.
As well as these two modes another one will be also included in the beta, Drop Zone. We’ll be learning more about this mode closer to the opening of the beta.
Included as an extra at the time of the beta will also be a new Star Wars Battlefront Companion Experience. This will allow players to play a card game that unlocks in-game credits that will then be used to unlock Star Cards and weapons in the game. The companion also allows players to check progress and customise their load outs for the battles. At the beta phase this will be available on the main site.
