Extended Scalebound Gameplay Footage Revealed

With a game like Scalebound that catches fans interest but won’t be released until the end of 2016 any footage we can find can be a plus. Today an extended gameplay video has been released that gives us just that.

While the start of the video may look very much like the Gamescom 2015 footage, you’ll notice that this one is 8:33 instead of 5:22, and this is the difference. It features more footage, and some subtle updates to the user interface such as an energy bar for Thuban.

In terms of extra footage what we see is Drew and Thuban making their way to the huge enemy we see at the end of the Gamescom 2015 gameplay footage. This means more battles against creatures and unfortunately more music coming from Drew’s headphones. I can see this becoming annoying for some people, and it makes me wonder if there will be a way to stop the music, or change it to something better.

What is impressive about the gameplay is the interaction between the dragon and his friend. Marking waypoints to where Thuban should move to seems to be easy to do and the way the two work together during battle seems to be working, even at the early stage of the alpha. Admittedly, when this is the most important aspect of the game they do have to get it right.

If there is one thing that becomes more noticeable the more footage is shown, is what an annoying character Drew may be. If the game relies on the relationship between him and Thuban, we need to be able to relate to the character, but if all he does is annoy us, then this is not a good sign.

What do you think of the new footage? If Drew is an annoying character, will he hinder your enjoyment of the game? Let us know your thoughts below.
