Shovel Knight Gets an Amiibo; First Indie Game to Get One!

Up until now, none of the independent games for Nintendo Wii U or Nintendo 3DS were graced with an Amiibo figure, however, that is changing with Shovel Knight. Nintendo has confirmed that the 2D title is getting an Amiibo!

There were rumors about this since a while now and retailers also fueled the speculation a couple of days ago. A confirmation from the officials, though, is still good news.

That being said, Shovel Knight fans who buy the Amiibo will be able to access customizable gear exclusive to them alongside some new challenge stages when the game releases on November 27.

Needless to say, the figure will bring exclusive content to the game’s 3DS as well as Wii U versions although there is a co-op mode which the Amiibo figure will unlock exclusively in the Wii U version of the game.

Steps like these are being taken by Nintendo to push indie development studios towards making more games for their platforms; and including them in the popular Amiibo collection of Nintendo is a good way to promote what they are doing.

A new trailer to officiate the Amiibo release for Shovel Knight has also been released by developers Nintendo and Yacht Club will also be sharing release date plans and pricing for the Amiibo figure later.
