As we move into September it’s time for Xbox Live users to get their next set of Games with Gold. While September is going to be a busy month for upcoming new titles, it looks like Microsoft aren’t letting us down when it comes to free content.
For the Xbox One the free games will be The Deer God, and Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. For those who haven’t played the latest chapter of Lara Croft’s adventures, this will be the perfect chance to get up to date before The Rise of the Tomb Raider is released. While The Deer God will be available for the whole month, Tomb Raider will become available September 16 to October 15.
For the Xbox 360 coming September 1, Xbox Live users will be able to get Battlestations Pacific. September 16 will see the release of Crysis 3 which will be available until September 30.
With the release of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Crysis 3 this sees a continuation of the high quality releases that Microsoft have been providing us with recently. August saw Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, and Gears of War 3, which may be argued to have been a better month. It will be interesting to see what games come in October and if they will live up to the quality of games like Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition.
Games with Gold was brought in to compete with the games that Playstation Plus provide to gamers, and in reality it never really managed to be as popular. With some of the recent releases, this may have changed the view somewhat, but which is the best service? I tend to think that Playstation’s offering may still be winning at this time.
