Almost exactly 5 months after the PS4/Xbox One console release,Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is now available this week on PC for $29.99 on Steam (release date was August 18th).
Contrast that with the $49.99 you’ll pay for the PlayStation 4/Xbox One version at Gamestop and it’s easy to see that purely digital delivery on PC is driving the cost way down. Buying at third party can be even cheaper. UK-based retailer GMG deal for Type-0 which rocks a seven dollar discount on this latest Final Fantasy port. Getting a Steam key like this from GMG is the cheapest way you can go right now from an authorized retailer.
Just use voucher code SAVE23-WITHGM-GAUG15 during checkout and the price will be knocked down to $23.10 for the Steam version of the game. GMG’s coupon code is set to expire later this Friday, August 21 at 8 AM Pacific. Note that the code isn’t exclusive to Type-0 and you can basically use it on any other titles at the store.
Anything new on the PC Version?
If you don’t know already, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is a PSP port and is locked at 30 frames per second. That said, most users on Steam don’t find that a problem and there are a few improvements Square Enix made on the PC version. These include:
- Upgraded graphics resolution
- Improved in-game battle camera
- Full controller support
- Full Steam achievements and trading cards
- Scalable motion blur settings
- New Character speed boost
- Increased blood levels from the original PSP version
- Customizable dynamic screen shot mode
Reviews are thus far mixed from gamers and reading a few of the top picks can show that the game is more dependent on how big of a Final Fantasy fan you are and how tolerable you are that this is essentially a port of a port.
