Gears of War 4 Will Have Split-Screen, Won’t Follow Halo 5 Footsteps
Halo developers 343 Industries stirred quite a bit of controversy when they announced that Halo 5 would not feature its age-old and much loved splitscreen multiplayer play.
The reasoning according to the studio behind this decision was that it would greatly hinder the performance and prevent the Xbox One exclusive title from reaching the targeted 60 frame-rate per second mark.
Thankfully, it seems The Coalition won’t be following in 343’s footsteps with Gears of War 4. The much-loved splitscreen co-op will return in the fourth edition of the extremely popular and well-recognized Xbox exclusive franchise. The same also goes for the Gears of War Ultimate Ediiton, the re-mastered edition of the Gears of War games for Xbox One.
The rights of the Gears of War franchise were acquired by Microsoft from Epic Games in 2014, and back then it was promised that a new addition into the series was in the works for the Xbox One console. Gears of War 4 was ultimately revealed at Microsoft’s Xbox One conference at the E3 2015 back in June.
Gears of War 4 will be an Xbox One exclusive title when it arrives in the fourth quarter of 2016.
