Despite being set in a completely different galaxy, Mass Effect Andromeda will make sure players feel ‘right at home’ if they’ve played the previous Mass Effect titles.
Senior Development Director Chris Wynn stated as much on his ever-active Twitter profile, replying to a concerned fan who was inquiring about any possible connections to the previous Mass Effect games.
It’s been pretty much confirmed that Mass Effect Andromeda will not have any of the previous characters from the series, which might leave it seeming slightly disjointed despite carrying the same franchise name.
According to Chris though, there are plenty of other non-character based elements in the game that will make us feel at home and comfortable with the completely new set of faces and environment.

Despite showing a trailer at the E3 conference, BioWare has been rather conservative in revealing information regarding Mass Effect Andromeda’s core story and gameplay. Currently, we still do not know who the main protagonist will be, nor what the underlying plot of Andromeda will be based around.
Mass Effect Andromeda will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in the fourth quarter of 2016.
