You might have been disappointed if you played Lego Minifigures Online, and it looks like the owners of its developer Funcom felt the same too. In fact, things were so bad that they are currently looking to sell the studio.
The Badhoevedorp, Netherlands based company has announced that the launch of the aforementioned title has been completed and the situation seen thereafter has urged them to look at other “strategic options.”
Not only are they interested in selling off but they are also open to being acquired or merged with another company. Here’s an excerpt from the press release:
Following the completion and launch of the LEGO Minifigures Online game, and based on the situation described in the stock notice from Funcom issued on 23 July this year, Funcom N.V. has retained ABG Sundal Collier to undertake a broad review of the strategic options available to the Company. The Company is actively seeking interested parties for discussions surrounding a possible investment, acquisition, merger, or any other available options.
Just in case you want to get involved with them, they are receiving queries at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Apart from The Secret World and LEgo Minifigures Online, Age of Conan series is one of their games from the past couple of years.
Funcom Productions has been in the business since 1993 making it a good 22 year old public company. It is sad to see that they have come to this end, but maybe there is an investor out there they could team up with.
