2014 release of a film named John Wick, starring Keanu Reeves, was a notable entry into the action genre. Many at the time, including me wondered if we will get to see another entry.
John Wick 2 was recently announced and fans couldn’t be happier about it. However, that’s not all we are getting, we now have confirmation that Lionsgate and Starbreeze are partnering to develop a John Wick game. Also, it will be a VR title.
The first-person shooter will be inspired by the film’s world and characters. Grab will lead development, while Starbreeze will be publishing the game on various VR devices.
Officials wrote in a press-release:
In a move bringing cutting edge entertainment technology to one of its most exciting new brands, Lionsgate (NYSE:LGF), a premier next generation global content leader, announced today that it is partnering with leading game developer and publisher Starbreeze (STAR:OMX) to launch a first-person shooter game in virtual reality (VR) based on Lionsgate’s box office hit John Wick.
Moreover, John Wick storyline will be integrated into Payday 2, which has over 9 million players around the world. Release date for John Wick VR is not yet announced, but Starbreeze said that we should expect the game in Spring 2016.
