Today is the big release for Windows 10 and while things seem to be going smoothly for most, though there are a few teething troubles with some games. It appears that one of these issues is with League of Legends with players being left on a black screen instead of the game loading.
To clarify what users need to do if they encounter the blank screen problem when trying to get the game running, here are the steps:
- Right click on the League of Legends launcher
- Click Properties, and then Compatibility
- Then check ”Disable Display Scaling on high DPI Settings”
- Also select “Run as Administrator”
- Uncheck Compatibility Mode.
Hopefully this will then fix the problem that causes the black screen and the game should launch fine.
While it is a shame that the problem has appeared on release, at least it was a known issue and there is a workaround in place. Looking at the comments on the Reddit page though it is interesting that for some people on the “Insider” scheme for Windows 10 didn’t have the problem until today.
These teething problems do tend to appear even in the best-tested pieces of software so hopefully people will be able to use the workaround and get their game running. For other games that have issues with Windows 10 the fixes may not be as simple.
