Check Out The First Prototype Of The PlayStation 4 From 2012
It’s hard to believe that its been almost 2 years Since the PlayStation 4 came out in the market. The console has dominated the market since day-one, it features the best console design we have seen in a while and its controller is a massive improvement over the Dual Shock 3.
Back in 2012, before we were given a look at the new console design, Sony started to send PS4 devkits to developers. We came across an image that showed us how the PS4 prototype looked when it was sent to developers back in 2012. It looks like an old VCR but the controller is pretty similar to the final design of the Dual Shock 4.
Sony priced this devkit at $2500, but it gave most of them free of cost, especially to indie developers. Later on, in 2013 we were shown the final design and features of the PlayStation 4, and it released in same year.
PlayStation 4 has been the fastest selling console in history and it has sold over 20 million units to date. PlayStation 4’s success came at a crucial time for Sony, as the company suffered from financial issues in many of its departments.
