The confirmation comes via Splatoon Japan Twitter account which states that the update will bring tag-team matches, private lobbies, new gear, new weapons, and so much more:

In addition to this, the studio has also confirmed that The Urchin Underpass map will not be available from Aug. 3, 2015 till Aug. 5, 2015 for online competitive matches which suggest that the update will also bring some minor changes being made to the multiplayer map.
Furthermore, the game’s co-director Tsubasa Sagakuchi also confirmed last week that the game might receive an increased level cap in future. Currently, player level is capped at Level 20 which is not at hard difficult to attain and leaves players with little to do. Lastly, the studio also rolled out a couple of new weapons across all regions which gives players something new to experience.
