WWE superstar Terry Bollea aka Hulk Hogan, will not be appearing in WWE 2K16, according to a statement provided by 2K.
Tape obtained by publications in which Hogan gave racial remarks and repeatedly used the N-word, went viral which resulted in WWE firing the iconic wrestler. The tape also revealed that Hogan wasn’t happy about his daughter dating a young African-American man. Hogan went on to say: “I am a racist, to a point.”
After news broke that WWE fired Hogan, fans wondered if the star will make an appearance in WWE 2K16. 2K shared the following statement regarding the game and Hogan:
We are highly respectful of the way that our partners choose to run their business and manage our partnerships accordingly. We can confirm that Hulk Hogan will not appear in WWE 2K16.
It is surprising how stars fail to see the consequence of their remarks. However, Hogan has come-out to apologize and said that his remarks were inconsistent with his own beliefs.
Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it.
This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs.
WWE has cut all ties with the man and has removed Hogan’s merchandise from their online store. Hogan’s biography is nowhere to be found and he has been removed from the Hall of Fame.
Similar treatment was seen with Chris Benoit, when WWE found out that he murdered his family before killing himself.
