Quakecon 2015 has begun, and between July 23-26 we’ll be sure to hear many announcements from the event in Texas. In fact the first has come in the opening speech that has just taken place.
For those who have already have access to the Doom Beta, they will also be able to play in the early Alpha Test which has been announced as coming “relatively soon.” This means that if you have a beta code and are yet to redeem it make sure you do as soon as possible. You may find that you’ll then get details in an email as to when the testing will begin.
As well as the announcement of the Alpha Test, people in attendance at Quakecon will be able to try out Doom’s multiplayer mode. As this was one of the most popular parts of the original Doom there is going to be plenty of interest in getting a try of this.
There will also be interest in just how well the game plays in the multiplayer environment. For the most part the public demonstrations have focused on the story campaign.
To gain Beta codes for Doom, which in turn are giving people access to this new Alpha phase you will have had to pre-order Wolfenstein: the New Order for Playstation 4, Xbox One, or PC. I’m sure many who missed doing this will now be regretting that move.
What there is no doubt of right now is the excitement many will feel with the Alpha testing announcement. To be able to be a part of that and to get hands-on experience with Doom is something many will have been looking forward to.
