We reported yesterday on a rumored list of games that could come out to Xbox One with the Games with Gold offerings for the month of August 2015, but it turns out the list was not legitimate.
The rumor was ignited when someone shared a promotional image that was allegedly leaked. The image had games like Ryse: Son of Rome for Xbox One and Fallout: New Vegas for Xbox 360 in the names of games that would go free for the next month.
Since it came from an unofficial source, someone took up the matter with Phil Spencer the head of Xbox at Microsoft and inquired on his Twitter if the leak was legit. In his reply, Spencer explicitly confirmed “that screenshot isn’t real.”
Moving on, he also clarified things about their plans for the upcoming Gamescom 2015 conference. It was expected that Microsoft will bring Recore and/ or Sea of Thieves to the stage with their presentation and maybe provide the audience with another demo.
Phil Spencer, however, has revealed that they have no such plans for Gamescom 2015 primarily because they only recently showed off both the games at E3 2015:
Yea, SoT & Recore won’t be at GC, another demo so close to E3 is just tough on production.
you were also wrong if you thought that it had been a while since we saw Phantom Dust so maybe Microsoft would show us the Xbox One title at the event.
While Spencer reiterated that they were still committed to the project, they will not be showing it at the event next month.
So what exactly is Microsoft bringing in the bag? Also, what would they offer in Games with Gold for August if not Ryse and New Vegas?
