Comparing God of War 3: Remastered with the PS3 version; is it worth another $40 Bucks?

Earlier this year, when Sony announced God of War 3: Remastered for PS4, many believed that the remastered was being created for the sake of filling the void in the Sony’s 2015 line-up and would not turn out to be a true remaster.

Now that the game has launched, plethora of videos comparing the PS4 version with the PS3 version have started emerging online showing how the remastered version fares against the PS3 one.

Right off the bat, the first thing that we notice is that the God of War 3: Remastered is running at 1080p and 60 frames per second. The PS4 version has received a texture boost, but then again, it is hard to notice the difference when both versions are being played side-by-side.

As evident in the video comparison, the blood splatter is more noticeable in the remastered version, but other special effects such as fire in the background have not seen much improvement over the PS3 version.

Despite the fact that the motion blue is pretty much identical on both versions, the resolution boost on the PS4 version makes it a little better.

You will also notice increased depth of scale, better facial animations, and more realistic muscle bandings on the PS4 version. Other than this, it is surprising the PS3 version still remains a marvel even after 5 years since its initial release.
