Earlier this year, Canadian sports news media company theScore released its eSports app to keep fans in touch with the latest news and happenings from the world of eSports.
The app provides live coverage of League of Legends, Dota 2, CS:GO, Call of Duty, StarCraft 2 and Hearthstone. Thescore eSports app also provides us with stats, push alerts and links to video highlights and streams
While the app is very useful, for League of Legends it doesn’t provide as much information as it should on match-ups and players. An alternative comes in the form of lolesports website, however, it’s time Riot provides us with a new League of Legends centric app.
Not only the app should offer us with all of the details from the latest happenings of LoL’s eSports scene, but it should let us in on information related to upcoming updates, DLC and more.
Fans would love to see stats, news, PTL, and twitter in one place conveniently. If Riot ever makes such an app, I think one of the key elements should be a spectator mode, where players can watch their friends play, learn tips and tricks and even watch professional tournaments live on their smartphones or tablets.
For an app like that, I would happily pay a couple of dollars, but I think the majority will prefer it to be free to download. Riot hasn’t shared any plans for such an app but I think if fans are vocal enough, they may work on something like this.
Do you think Riot should create a League of Legends centric app for iOS and Android? What features would you like to see in it?
