In many ways, Rise of the Tomb Raider should be the exclusive that finally pushed gamers to purchase the Xbox One. The fact that it’s a timed exclusive adds the fact that Playstation 4, PC and other console owners just have to wait and Lara will be on her way to them soon.
This creates a problem when marketing the game, because they have to create something so impressing that fans of the Tomb Raider feel that they can’t wait. If the game is going to be a success it obviously can’t wait for the fans on other consoles to finally make a move to buy it.
The way to push people to get the Xbox One version may be to show off some of the impressive technology that is going into the game.
The E3 demonstration did provide some impetus for this, the game arguably did enough to stand up to the Behemoth that is Naughty Dog’s Playstation 4 Exclusive, Uncharted 4. What impresses the most is the level of detail in Lara’s character model itself.

Showing how the cut-scene movement was motion-captured, and how it was replicated in the game. Also showing the character model for Lara reacting to lighting and shadowing the character looks even more impressive than in the previous game.
Knowing how hair effects were added in the “definitive” versions on current generation consoles you can’t help but pay close attention to it to see improvements there as well.
What we see with Lara is that there have been some very impressive updates in the terms of quality, which is even more notable when you think how good she looked in the first game. Also the environment in which she will be hunting for and exploring the tombs is stunning.
