Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Collector’s Edition was revealed by Electronic Arts a couple of hours ago. Now we know that the game is high in demand and fans would even want to spend some extra dimes to get a special treatment, but is $200 worth it?
These days a usual AAA base game costs $60 and collector’s editions go up to prices around $100 and sometimes even more. However, DICE’s upcoming title will cost you $200 if you want the Collector’s Edition.
Now this one brings you things like tattoos, lithographs that are exclusive, figurines and so on i.e. some items that are standard for a collector’s edition and some that are different.
However, if you compare the price and contents with some of the other collector’s editions released by different developers you will get a better idea.
Just a random check on the stories we have done in the past shows me that the Bloodborne Collector’s Edition cost €79.99, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate got one for $60 only, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt Collector’s Edition was priced at $150 while Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s is priced at $120.
On the other hand Halo 5 Guardians Collector’s Edition is a whopping $250 and so is the MGS5 Collector’s Edition. Of course it matters whether the games being compared are of the same magnanimity as each other in which case I would consider Halo 5 and MGS5 to be much bigger titles than Mirror’s Edge Catalyst.
The contents of the special pack surely are different from the usual collector’s editions but in my opinion the value for money in this case is going to vary based on how much you love Mirror’s Edge Catalyst and Faith.
Here’s a rundown on everything that the Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Collector’s Edition is going to get you:
- Adult Faith/Young Faith diorama
- Exclusive Steel book
- Exclusive lithograph
- Set of 10 concept pieces
- Temporary logo tattoo
- Temporary Faith arm tattoo
- Storage box
Personally, I think a game should not cost that much even if it is a collector’s edition we are talking about that brings you exclusive items.
Do tell us if you think the price tag of Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Collector’s Edition is justified.
