Nintendo fans! Rest assured, the company does to not intent to stop supporting 3DS and Wii U in favor of NX.

It has only been a few years since Nintendo released the Wii U, in hopes of building upon the success of Wii. However, things went wrong pretty early on as the new console failed to grab a decent market share, due to which plenty of notable developers/publishers stopped releasing their AAA games on the platform.

Nintendo now needs a new platform that is capable of taking-on the PlayStation and Xbox.

That platform could be the new NX, the console is a successor to the Wii U and one can only hope that Nintendo won’t make the same mistakes with NX.

However, there is a huge amount of fans who own or have just bought a Wii U and to them, the news of NX so early in the console generation is concerning.

On top of that, recently Nintendo president Satoru Iwata spoke at a shareholders meeting and hisĀ comments hinted that NX might replace both 3DS and Wii U.

Fans believed that Nintendo will drop support for these platforms, but thankfully, that isn’t the case.

Iwata has now cleared things up by saying:

When NX is launched, there already will be a certain volume of Nintendo 3DS and Wii U hardware widely existing in the market, so from a software business perspective, it would be highly inefficient to stop releasing titles for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U right after the launch of NX.

That’s a relief for those who own a 3DS or Wii U.
