As days go by, we are starting to get some information on Nintendo NX although the developers are making sure not to let loose the more important bits and pieces just yet. They did, however, divulge that they are still looking for features to catch the attention of the audience.
Shigeru Miyamoto sat down alongside Shinya Takahashi, the deputy general manager of Nintendo software planning and development department and discussed the past and future of Nintendo i.e. the failure of Wii U and the plans they have for Nintendo NX.
Takahashi explained that they were still busy looking for ideas that would click with the customers and for that they were looking at things from a gamer’s perspective:
For us, the next step is to think about what is going to be that element that is really going to catch the attention of a large number of players again and get them excited. We’re constantly thinking about this idea from the perspective of the players and the needs of the players in terms of what can we can do with our ability and our technology to capture that excitement and passion.
I am hoping that Nintendo NX manages to add something new to the community – something that would really push up Nintendo and make the competition a bit more interesting.
On the other hand, however, Miyamoto is focusing all his energies on making games and is not a part of the team working on the home console! Here’s what he had to add:
I’ve pulled myself back out of some of the hardware section and I’m really focused on some of the software that I’m involved in—for example, the new Starfox game. Of course I am observing and looking at the hardware, but I am not actively participating and making decisions.
I think it is about time that Nintendo strikes back in the home console market. Are you keeping high hopes for Nintendo NX?
