It has now been confirmed that the new PlayStation 4 Ultimate Player 1TB Edition is going to cost £349.99 in the UK, which is the same price as the standard 500 GB model.
Major retailers such as Amazon, GAME, GameStop, and ShopTo, have all started taking pre-orders for the new model, and will start shipping the item out to buyers from July 15.
Interestingly, the prices are varied across different retailers. Amazon is selling it for £349.99, while Shopto has listed it for a slightly cheaper price of £339.85. GameStop on the other hand is selling it for just £289.97.
Since both models are now priced similarly, logic dictates that Sony should be announcing a price cut for the standard 500 GB model soon. Perhaps in the UK, the lesser version might be slashed down to £299.99 in the coming months. An announcement that could possibly be made at Gamescom 2015 in August.
The PlayStation 4 Ultimate Player 1TB Edition is already available in Japan. Alongside it, Sony also announced a new 500 GB model which is 10 percent lighter than the current version and has an 8 percent lesser power consumption. However, in reality the drop is much higher, going up till 18% on certain games for the console. Additionally, the console uses 58W of the APU while in download mode, and comes with a matte finish on the HDD cover.
